The Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, which is investigating the Itaewon disaster, conducted an intensive investigation until late last night (18th) against Yongsan-gu Office Park Chief Hee-young and Superintendent Ryu Mi-jin.

On Monday, the day of the disaster, the police and fire station managers, former Yongsan Police Station Chief Lee Im-jae and Yongsan Fire Station Chief Executive Choi Seong-beom, will be called side by side to investigate and complete the first investigation into the main suspects.

The survey lasted 14 hours and 9 hours, respectively.

First of all, from 9:50 am to 11:50 pm yesterday, Mayor Park Hee-young received an intense investigation to see if he had properly established and implemented security measures during Halloween.

In addition, it is known that an investigation has been carried out into the role that the Mayor’s Park played in relation to the implementation of the Yongsan-gu Council’s ‘Dance Allowance Ordinance’, which was identified as one of the backgrounds that gave rise to the disaster.

Park, who came out after the investigation around 11:50 pm, remained silent when reporters asked if he acknowledged the lack of preparation before the disaster.

Superintendent Ryu Mi-jin, who was present at around 3:40pm yesterday, also returned home this morning after being questioned for almost 9 hours.

On the day of the disaster, Superintendent Ryu is accused of responding late after leaving Security General Situation Room 112 and staying in his office while serving as a situation manager at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

Although Superintendent Ryu’s cell phone was not secured, the special edition believes that it is not a problem, saying that it has secured objective data to prove Superintendent Ryu’s dereliction of duty.

The main responsible persons at the scene on the day of the disaster, Lee Im-jae, former chief of Yongsan Police Station, and Choi Seong-beom, chief of Yongsan Fire Station, are being investigated on the same day.

Former Chief Executive Lee Im-jae is under investigation for allegedly arriving at the scene 50 minutes after the disaster without taking the proper precautions during Halloween.

In addition, since the charge of dereliction of duty for making a ‘late report’ to the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has also been applied, it is expected that a lengthy investigation will be conducted as in the previous investigations.

Choi Seong-beom, the head of the fire department, served as the site manager at the time of the disaster and will be investigated for delaying the announcement of firefighting response steps without responding to the joint police response.

When the investigation of the two is completed, most of the first investigation of the seven main suspects ordered by the special issue will be completed.

However, the special issue stated that there were few cases where a re-investigation was required in the process of fighting charges, and even if this case was included, it was said that the investigation would be r main suspects will be completed next week.
