The European Union, which is negotiating last-minute talks with US authorities so that European electric vehicles can also receive subsidies in the US market, warned it could respond by creating a so-called ‘European priority buying law’ .
The US Inflation Reduction Act is said to be a discriminatory measure that violates the trade agreement, so it is taking countermeasures.

The EU’s strong response is due to a sense of crisis that investment in electric vehicles in Europe will shrink if left alone.
The American electric vehicle company Tesla has decided to move its battery and equipment manufacturing facilities to the United States, which it planned to install in its factory in Berlin, Germany.
German carmaker Volkswagen also announced plans to expand its operations in the United States, while steelmaker ArcelorMittal announced plans to cut production in Germany and expand investment in Texas steel mills.
Domestic automakers had the third highest share of 11.4% in the European electric vehicle market by the third quarter of this year.
If even the EU takes preferential treatment for domestic products, the position of domestic companies will be further reduced.
The US Inflation Reduction Act enforcement decree is expected by the end of next month.
The United States and the European Union will discuss the issue of an electric vehicle subsidy at the last minute at the Trade Council meeting in Washington on the 5th of next month.
