The video of the performance at the Van Cliburn Competition last June recorded almost 9 million views.

Yunchan Lim’s performance, which left a strong impression on classical music fans around the world, was chosen as one of the 10 best classical music performances in the world this year by the New York Times.

Regarding this news, Lim expressed his unique humility in a press conference before his first performance in Japan.

In this performance, Lim will perform songs by Bach, Liszt, and the British composer Orlando Gibbons.

Before the performance, he said, “The most important thing is to play well,” and said he wanted to feel the passionate hearts of the Japanese audience.

Lim, a lover of Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa and pianist Mitsuko Uchida, gave an interesting interpretation of the recent developments in Korean classical music.

[임윤찬 / 피아니스트 : 어떤 민족이 이상하게 잘하는 게 있다고 생각하는데 우리나라는 음악을 잘하는 민족이라고 생각합니다.]

Around 2,000 tickets for the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, where the first performance took place, quickly sold out.

In February next year, fans of Japanese classical music can also look forward to a performance with the Tokyo Philharmonic led by world-renowned maestro Mikhail Pletnev.

A young master who does what he has to do every day in response to major changes in his daily life, such as album releases and concerts around the world.

As well as playing all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas, he revealed another dream as a musician.

[임윤찬 / 피아니스트 : 음악을 쉽게 접하지 못하는 사람들에게 제 음악을 들려주고 싶습니다.]
