[단독] “I asked you to remove the waste paper box…” Hyundai outlet search and seizure

Daejeon Hyundai Outlet fire disaster where 8 people were killed.

It is assumed that paper boxes piled up in the underground car park acted as a spark.

However, as a result of the comment, it was confirmed that several requests had already been made to remove these boxes before the fire started.

Reporter Tae-wook Kim’s exclusive report will be presented.

This is a photo of the Daejeon Hyundai Outlet underground car park, taken in February.

One side of the parked cars is filled with piles of compacted rubbish bins.

Next to the other cars are piles of boxes with goods.

The forensic team, who toured the fire site, estimated that the fire started around a one tonne truck which was parked on the first basement floor and moved to a paper box.

“I collected the debris that fell under the wheels (vehicle) and looked around it again. There is a lot of ash. I will ask you to analyze the evidence.”

However, a freight forwarder unloading directly here told MBC earlier this year that he had asked the outlet to remove the waste paper boxes in case of fire.

“Around March of this year, he said, ‘This is too hard to unload now, so remove it. We are too hard, there are too many boxes.'”

There were so many boxes and plastics strewn around the loading dock that the vehicles’ exhaust vents often hit the waste boxes.

“Now, we’ve piled a lot of heavy waste boxes on the floor. So we backed up and hit it, so when you say a car without a break, it looks blocked, the muffler (muffler).”

However, it is said that the only solution that the management team cannot forcefully remove because it is a product from every store comes back every time.

“It felt like a warehouse, not a loading dock. There’s no organization at all, just throw it away and throw it away.”

Regarding the possibility of a disaster due to poor management, Hyundai Department Store said that the loaded goods cannot be forcibly removed as they are the store’s assets, but they have repeatedly asked the company to clean up.

The joint investigation team, which carried out the second investigation at the site, sent a 1 tonne car with only the skeleton left at the estimated point of ignition to the National Forensic Service to carry out a detailed investigation.

Hyundai Outlet was also searched and seized.

The police intend to verify the cause of the fire and whether the fire fighting equipment is functioning normally by securing documents relating to various safety equipment such as sprinklers and smoke control facilities and CCTV images at the time of the fire.
