(Seoul = Yonhap News) Large long-range bombers were spotted parked on a Russian Air Force runway.
Foreign media such as German weekly magazine Der Spiegel reported on the 28th of last month (local time) that abnormal activity was detected at Engels-2 Air Base in Saratov, Russia as a result of analyzing satellite images taken by Maxa Technology, private satellite company in the United States.
About 20 Tu-95s and Tu-160s were seen lined up on the base runway as if preparing for a sortie.
The nuclear-capable Tu-95 bomber is a strategic bomber that forms the core of the Russian nuclear air force, along with the Tu-160.
Boxes and carts believed to be carrying air-to-surface cruise missiles such as the Kh-55 and Kh-101 were also seen on the airport runway, and the British Daily Mail noted that “a large-scale Russian attack is likely. to be about to happen.”
These weapons are believed to be targeting Ukraine’s power plants and water plants, which have already been nearly 40% destroyed.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said additional missile attacks from Russia were certain and asked to prepare for power shortages.
