(Seoul = Yonhap News) It is known that the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are considering supplying Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine.
According to CNN broadcast on the 29th (local time), a senior US defense official said on the day that he was considering providing Patriot missiles to Ukraine to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities against a Russian invasion.
Asked if he was considering sending Patriot batteries to Ukraine, the official said, “All forces are on board. Patriot is one of the air defense forces being considered.”
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also presented that he is considering a plan to support Ukraine for Patriot missiles in a press conference after a meeting of foreign ministers of member states held in Bucharest, Romania on the same day.
He said the damage from Russia’s attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure would be devastating if NATO did not provide Ukraine with advanced air defense systems.
