Some OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones seem to have a display problem: These smartphones have a green tinge in dark color areas with low display brightness, and details sometimes change too quickly to black and are therefore lost. Some users are here more affected, others (as well my test device) less or not at all. However, according to the current state of knowledge, only the Pro models are affected.

The following photos of a reader show an affected OnePlus 8 Pro on the left, while the right device has no problems:

Samsung is currently shipping a patch for its S20 Ultra devices to solve a green tint problem on the display. Some OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones also have the same problem. The good news: This is not a hardware problem and can therefore be remedied using a software update. The second good news: When asked, OnePlus confirmed that the problem would be addressed with the next software update. A patch should therefore already be available in May:

“OnePlus values user feedback and strives to provide the best smartphone experience. Our team is currently reviewing these reports to determine the best solutions for our users, and we will release updates as soon as they are ready. As for the green cast, we are working on solving this in our next OTA. ”

Some OnePlus 7 models also have this problem – apparently not as pronounced and widespread there. An answer to the question whether these devices are also considered with a software fix is still pending.
