ITHACA, NY – Former New York State government candidate Cynthia Nixon has supported Anna Kelles for the New York State Assembly District 125, her campaign was announced Tuesday.
Nixon, who stopped off in Ithaca during his first challenge from incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2018, says that Kelles represents exactly the kind of change needed in Albany.
“As a fellow New York supporter who works for all of us, Anna Kelles has the courage and experience to make a real change for many, not just a few,” said Nixon. “I am proud to be with Anna and to ask you to join me in supporting her to be your next Assemblywoman.”

Nixon and Kelles will host a virtual town hall, streamed live on YouTube on June 17, at 7:00 pm. Further information on the event is available on Kelles4NY.com.

The county legislature is one of seven candidates for the Democratic ticket after longtime Assembly member Barbara Lifton announced his retirement. The other candidates include Jordan Lesser, the former Legislative Advisor to Lifton; Lisa Hoeschele from Cortland; Seph Murtagh, City of Ithaca Alderperson; Jason Leifer, Supervisor of the city of Dryden; Beau Harbin, Cortland County Legislature; local prosecutor Sujata Gibson.
The primaries will be held on June 23rd. Due to COVID-19, all voters are unable to request the absentee ballot and early voting begins on June 13th.
