AFC Cup 2022 Gokulam Kerala FC Beats ATK Mohun Bagan and Starts Asian Cup Winning streaks | AFC Cup 2022: Gokulam Kerala FC makes their AFC Cup debut by defeating Mohan Bagan

Kolkata : Gokulam Kerala FC makes their debut in the AFC Cup 2022, defeating ISL giants ATK Mohan Bagan. Kerala won by four goals to two. The two goals scored by Gokulam came from the boot of the Malayalee players.

The first goal of the match was scored in the 50th minute after a goalless first half. The first goal was scored by Slovenian forward Luka Majken of the Malabar team. Afterwards, Indian player Pritam Kotal scored the equalizer for Kolkata in the 53rd minute.

But that draw only lasted four minutes. In the 57th minute, PP Rishad’s goal gave Kerala the lead again. Then in the 65th minute, Luka increased Kerala’s lead by hitting Mohun Bagan’s net again.

Then in the 80th minute, Liston Colosso scored for Kolkata. Although ATK tried for the equalizer, another Malayalee player from Gokulam, Jithin, came on as a substitute and increased the lead of the Kerala team. Gokulam Kanni scored their first AFC victory in the 89th minute with a goal from Jith.

The Kerala team arrived in Kolkata for the Asian Federation Cup after retaining the 2020-22 I-League season. Gokul became the first team in the I-League era to retain the title. Gokul’s next match in the group stage is on May 21 against Maldives team Masia FC.
