“After Virat Kohli Asked For…”: Pak Legends Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis Question Awarding Process

New Delhi: During the last India-Pakistan match, leg umpire Marais Erasmus Noball called the controversy on social media. Many Pakistani cricketers also came forward to question the umpire’s action. The India-Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 tie in Melbourne on Sunday turned out to be one of the best cricket matches ever between the two teams.

India needed 16 runs off the last 6 balls to win. A no ball from Mohammad Nawaz brought India back into the game while the win looked predictable. Some people are of the opinion that the umpire gave in to Virat Kohli’s pressure and called the no ball.

Pakistani players Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Malik said the decision of the umpire who called the noball should be referred to the third umpire. To the naked eye, he doesn’t look like a noob. At such a time any batsman would ask for a noball. It is not Kohli’s fault. Akram said that it would be wise to use new technologies in such cases.

Waqar Younis said the leg umpire should have called a noball before Virat Kohli asked for it. The leg umpire should have consulted with the line umpire and left the decision to the third umpire. Refusing to say whether it was a no ball or not, Waqar explained that such decisions should be referred to the umpires.

Former Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar also shared the same opinion by sharing the no ball picture. Akhtar’s tweet mocks the umpires. Akhtar shared the picture of No Ball saying this is something for you to think about tonight. Meanwhile, Kohli was bowled by a free hit after a ball that only scored three runs. This made India’s victory easy.
