THIS IS TO ENCOURAGE COUNTY LEADERS TO TAKE AGGRESSIVE MEASURES. THEY HAVE DECIDED TO PROHIBIT LOCAL ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AND RESTAURANTS STARTING TOMORROW. THIS TABLE SHOWS THE SPIKE IN CASES DURING THE WEEKEND. WE HAD 90 SATURDAY, 96 SUNDAY. TOMORROW AT 5.00 PM, THE COUNTY WILL START APPLYING THE ALCOHOL ORDER. IN AN EFFORT TO STOP THE SPREAD OF COVID-19, HEALTH MANAGERS ALLEGELY SAY CONTACT TRACERS HAVE FOUND LINKS WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE VISITED KEY POINTS OUTSIDE PENNSYLVANIA AND MAY RESULT IN FAST LOCAL RESTAURANTS. ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTHERN QUARTER OF PITTSBURGH AND THE OAKLAND DISTRICTS. >> THE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION INSIDE BARS, RESTAURANTS, NIGHT CLUBS AND THE LIKE IS CONCERNING. DRINKING ALCOHOL IN THESE SETTINGS INVITES PEOPLE TO CONGREGATE, AND THE 6 FEET THAT WE MUST KEEP DISAPPEAR. WHEN PEOPLE DRINK, THEY LOSE INHIBITION, SPEAK STRONGER, GET MORE AND CANNOT ADHER TO PHYSICAL DISTANCE AND MASK RECOMMENDATIONS. KELLY: THIS ORDER – JUST TO MAKE SURE IT IS CLEAR – ALLOWS RESTAURANTS AND BARS TO REMAIN OPEN BUT THEY CANNOT BE USED AS ALCOHOL OTHER THAN GOING OUT. SOME PEOPLE WE TALK ABOUT ARE CONCERNED WITH LOCAL COMPANIES WHO ARE TAKING ANOTHER HIT. >> A LOT OF COMPANIES are going to be injured. THEY ARE ALREADY WOUNDED. IT WILL REALLY KILL THEM. MICHELLE: ALLEGHENY COUNTY HEALTH OFFICIALS ALSO MAKE CHANGES WHEN THEY ARE MASKS. YOU MUST WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE SITTING AT A TABLE IN A RESTAURANT. YOU CAN ONLY REMOVE IT FOR EATING AND DRINKING. OFFICIALS OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY WILL INVESTIGATE ALL BUSINESSES SUBJECT TO VIOLATIONS AND WILL FORCE TO CLOSE WHILE INVESTIGATING. >> WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE WITHOUT A MASK IN CLOSE CONTACT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME, THIS IMPROVES BROADCASTING POTENTIAL AND FOR PEOPLE TO OBTAIN IT. THIS IS WHAT OUR CONTACT TRACKING SHOWED. MICHELLE: WORLDWIDE, FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES WHEN VISITING A COMPANY. IF YOU SEE A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT FOLLOW THE RULES, YOU MAY REPORT A VIOLATION. THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HAS RELEASED A NEW ONLINE COMPLAINT FORM. YOU CAN REPORT ANY COMPANY TO NOT APPLY SOCIAL DISTANCE, SANITATION OR FACIAL MASK VIOLATIONS. WE HAVE A LINK TO THE FORM ON WTAE.COM AND OUR MOBILE APP. KELLY: INTERESTING. COUNTY OFFICIALS SAY THAT A LOT OF SUCH POSITIVE CASES HAVE A COMMON THREAD. TRIP. THE COUNTY MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS IF YOU TAKE SUMMER HOLIDAYS, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO SELF-INSULATE FOR 14 DAYS AFTER YOU RETURN HOME AND YOU HAVE TESTED FOR COVID-19. >> IF YOU HAVE RETURNED FROM HOLIDAYS OUT OF STATE, PARTICULARLY FROM A HOTSPOT LIKE FLORIDA, TEXAS OR CAROLINES, TEST AND STAY AT HOME UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR RESULTS.
