Former Big Brother host Brian Dowling retaliated to Davina McCall amid an ongoing dispute over the recent reality show special series Big Brother: the best shows of all time.
On Saturday June 27, Brian posted a lengthy Instagram story statement for Davina, saying he was upset that she continued to post about her time on the show after explaining why he didn’t want to appear in the special.
“I’m really sad that you published something again today that continues to fan the flames of it on social media and in the press,” he wrote.
Brian reiterated that he was hurt not to have been recognized as a presenter of the series, which he hosted from 2011 to 2013, but insisted that it was not personal.
“It was not at all a personal attack on you, Rylan or Emma because as far as I know, you are not making or editing the series and I am a big fan of all of you as presenters. “
It was in response to a tweet Davina indicated where she, Rylan Clark-Neal and Emma Willis spoke about the presentation of the show.
Brian asked, “Why did you think it was appropriate to publish this? Even if asked, you would surely be aware that it would make me look bad and incite bad comments about me, when you don’t Didn’t you know why I could refuse to participate? “
He added, “Did I refuse you personally? No. Did you or anyone else ask me why I could have refused? No.”
Brian went on to say that the reason he refused to appear on the show was because the way he was treated after his layoff had deteriorated his mental health.
“I did not refuse to film a 10-second clip as an insult to you or Rylan. I said no because it once again highlighted how I am treated by the producers of this show and that again triggered a lot of mental health issues for me., “he continued.
“When I was fired, I was hurt, upset and publicly humiliated. My mental health and confidence have suffered tremendously over the past seven years as a result of this and other events that have occurred while i was the host.
“My career ended because I couldn’t even consider working on television for a good number of years after that and my reputation was damaged.”
Brian then stated that he had no intention of saying anything else, but Davina’s message had encouraged people to send abusive messages to him, so he felt he should address the problem again.
“Once I saw your tweet and the amount of vitriol and abuse I got in response, I felt like I had to post something explaining why I didn’t want to film the clip,” he wrote. .
“It was not something I wanted to do, but I felt I had no choice given the amount of poison and criticism I received personally.
“I certainly don’t think I did anything unreasonable by posting it – I had to comment in light of your very bold” FYI “message to your 2.7 million followers.
“I haven’t said anything since. However, it’s now Saturday and you’re still posting about it today. I really don’t understand why, but I would really like to draw a line below now please , because continuing to post everything you do is encouraging more negativity. “
Davina hasn’t responded to Brian’s last post yet.
