Blennerhassett Island hosts the “Pioneers Heading West” demonstration

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va (WTAP) – This weekend the Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park will host reenactors demonstrating some of American history.

The island will host a “Pioneers Heading West” demonstration from October 2nd to 4th from 11am to 4.30pm.

The demonstration will take place over three days and will include a historical reenactment of the pioneers heading west in the early 1800s.

During the demonstration the reenactors will illustrate the activities of the early nineteenth century.

“There will be a pioneer camp here on Blennerhassett Island,” said reenactor Logan Saho. “There will be pioneers headed west. The demonstrations that will be shown here are pioneering cooking, candle making and storytelling. “

The demonstration will be free once on the island.
