Brazil registered 844 deaths and 13,944 infected by Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the highest daily number of new cases since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Ministry of Health. In total, the South American country has already exceeded 200 thousand confirmed cases of the disease (202,918) and totals 13,993 deaths.
However, the numbers may be higher due to underreporting and the delay in carrying out the tests, according to several studies carried out by Brazilian scientists, who estimate that the number of contagions is more than one million.
Brazilian health authorities also reported that 199,768 workers in the public health system had symptoms. Of these, the diagnosis of the disease was confirmed at 31,790, and this possibility was ruled out for another 53,677.
About 114,300 workers are still considered suspect cases.
