The municipality of Braga recorded, up to 18:00 hours on Monday, 51 deaths following infection by covid-19, 9 more than on Friday, O MINHO found from a local source in the health sector. At the same time, there were 1,139 people infected with the SARS CoV-2 virus, 122 more than on Friday.
The number of infected people may not coincide with the numbers released tomorrow in the epidemiological report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), in view of the delay between local authorities and final disclosure, which can reach 16%.
In the official bulletin released this Monday, the DGS pointed out 1,019 confirmed cases in the municipality, the same ones registered by the report the day before. The capital of Minho is the fourth municipality in the country with the most confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, preceded only by Porto, Lisbon and Gaia.
In addition to Braga, Guimarães with 507, Famalicão with 339 and Barcelos with 202, are the municipalities most affected in Minho. Together, there are 2,067 cases.
Vila Verde with 145 confirmed cases (+1), Póvoa de Lanhoso 44 (+2) and Celorico de Basto 19 (+1) were the only municipalities to register fluctuation in the numbers of the bulletin.
Viana do Castelo 144, Fafe with 79, Vizela 75, Monção 68, Arcos de Valdevez, Amares 45, Esposende with 40, Melgaço 36, Vieira do Minho 28, Ponte de Lima 24, Cabeceiras de Basto 15, Caminha 14, Terras de Bouro 9, Valença 7, Paredes de Coura 7, Ponte da Barca 7 and Cerveira with 6 registered no changes in the DGS report.
Portugal today registers 928 deaths associated with covid-19, 25 more than on Sunday, and 24,027 infected (163 more).
The covid-19 pandemic has already infected nearly three million people worldwide and caused more than 206,000 deaths.
Nearly 810,000 patients were considered cured by health officials.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
