The program is out. What should you expect from the twins’ enemies this summer?

Games: 10-30 July, 31 August, 1, 2, 24, 25, 26, 11, 12, 13 September
The strength of the Indians is at the top of their list. Shane Bieber is Mike Clevinger offer consistency and upward rotation, and Carlos Carrasco, while he was a joker, he was once also an ace.
It wasn’t as exceptional last year as it was in 2018, but Francisco East she is a superstar who enters her true first.
Only Alex Bregman and Nelson Cruz had a higher wRC + in the AL than José Ramírez after the break in 2019.
Since 2016, Carlos Santana ranks 19th as a percentage on a base (min. 500 games). In that arc, he hit 115 homers, tied with Josh Donaldson for 21st in all baseball. It is underrated and strong enough on the plate.
Indians should be good. They have too many stars not to be. Will their lack of depth and clearly out of range bring them down like in 2019?
Chicago White Sox
Games: 10 – 24 July, 25, 26, 31 August, 1, 2, 14, 15, 16, 17 September
Speaking of the offseason, the White Sox feel ready to break through at some point. The question is: when?
Their training is led by Yoán Moncada, which hit .315 / .367 / .548 with 25 humeri in 2019. The former best prospect is a special talent, but probably not as good as White Sox fans will tell you it is.
Yasmani Grandal it was a great pick up for a few reasons, but most importantly, it actually walks. The White Sox was ranked last dead in the walking rate in 2019 (6.3%) and returns a similar core. Last year Grandal recorded 17.2% of its appearances in dishes, second only to Mike Trout.
The pitching staff has a lot of question marks. Promising flamethrowers Dylan Cease is Reynaldo López ERAs were well above 5 in 2019. Dallas Keuchel remains effective, but benefited from the launch in the face of strong internal defense in Atlanta. All Stars Lucas Giolito burst with a bad change and sometimes looked like an ace.
There are not enough certainties on this list to draw conclusions. They could win 40 games, they could win 25. This in itself makes the Sox fascinating.
Kansas City Royals
Games: August 10 – 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23
Royals, unlike tigers, have a main core of the league to be built around. Hunter Dozier he had more bWARs than Manny Machado, Mike Moustakas and Gleyber Torres in 2019, but nobody talks about him. Dozier hit 25 homers, 10 triples and 29 doubles in 139 games.
Jorge Soler he brought baseball with 70 barrels and the American League with 48 humeri last summer. Whit Merrifield has 398 hits since 2018, the maximum in MLB. In fact, the difference in shots between Merrifield and 2nd place winner Freddie Freeman (31) is greater than that of Freeman and 18th placeer Starlin Castro and Anthony Rendon.
The two best starters of the Royals, Danny Duffy is Brad Keller, had ERA well below the league average in 2019. The problems lie in the back of the rotation. Jakob Junis, Glenn Sparkman, is Jorge López they were mostly scary on the hill last year.
However, in a shortened campaign, a team built like royalty might surprise. The twins will have to show up and play them hard in August.
Games: 10th – 27th August, 28th, 29th, 30th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 22nd, 23rd September
Tigers have to pay Jordan Zimmermann $ 25 million for just another season. The southpaw gave up 19 humeri in 112 innings and finished with an ERA 6.91 in 2019. Promising left-handed Matthew Boyd it hit 30.2% of the team’s 788 batters who faced a year ago.
The alignment of the Tigers is allegedly led by Victor Reyes, which hit .304 / .336 / .431 last year in 69 games. However, their two best OPS + hitters in 2019 are old friends Jonathan Schoop is CJ Cron. The offense is expected to produce more than an average * hitter * than they had last summer, but not much more.
The advantage is in the young arms of tigers. Casey Mize he is one of the most talented pitchers in Minor League Baseball. Pull Scubal hit 17.4 for nine innings in Double-A in 2019. Matt Manning he also had a 2.56 ERA and 10 strikeouts for nine. If they launched in Detroit in 2020, they could ruin some “cupcake” games for the contenders.
Games: 6 – 10, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20 August
Brewers have surprisingly every star shape. They have a real superstar in the 2018 MVP Christian Yelich, a future star in second base Keston Hiuraand an underrated star to begin with Brandon Woodruff. Milwaukee had a fascinating offseason. They lost Grandal against the Sox and Moustakas against the Rossi, but added an intriguing piece. Catcher Omar Narvaez It was quietly fantastic in Seattle in 2019. Only Willson Contreras had an OPS + (120) higher among 24 catchers who started at least 100 games. The Brewers were exchanged for Narváez in early December.
Woodruff, on average, throws his fast ball 96.3 MPH. He hit 143 innings 121 121 before suffering an oblique injury in July. He is reportedly ready to go by 2020. If you have come any closer Josh Hader in 2019, there was a 53% chance that you were killed or hit, showing both his dominance and his volatility.
The Brewers have really strong players and also a lot of middle-level collaborators. Yelich and Woodruff raise the floor and Hiura and Hader push the ceiling. Milwaukee will not necessarily be an easy opponent for Minnesota.
Cardinals St. Louis
Games: 4th – 28th July, 29th, 8th September, 9
The Via dei Cardinali revolves around phenomenal defense and uses the friendly boundaries of the pitcher at Busch Stadium. They went 50-31 home last year and it’s no accident. cast man he was solid on the plate with 106 OPS +, but his defense against the gold glove per second is the title. Powerful shortstop Paul DeJong has only one .316 OBP since 2018. Paul Goldschmidt is coming out of the worst offensive season of his career.
Jack Flaherty he released a 0.91 ERA after the break in 2019. He works with a phenomenal combination of fastball sliders and has emerged as a true ace down the stretch. The rest of the rotation is far from stellar. Miles Mikolas is Adam Wainwright they were just average last year and Dakota HudsonThe inefficiencies were masked by a huge defense behind him.
Giovanny Gallegos he has a devastating slider that helped him get a 2.31 ERA from the bullpen last year. The Cardinals’ pen produced 7th place in the fWAR (4.7) ranking in baseball and hopes to get the former superstar Andrew Miller return to the form in 2020.
The cardinals are stingy. In reality they do not crush the plate, ranking 24th in Homer (210) and 21st OPS (.737) in 2019. They do not even hit the world, finishing 17th in K / 9 (8.72). What they will do is show a tough and gritty defense and play their strengths. It is dangerous in itself.
Games: 3 – 18, 19, 20 September
Anthony Rizzo since 2014 he has hit .284 / .388 / .513 with 179 humeri and 199 doubles in 911 games since 2014. He still has an elite club. Kris Bryant it’s a pre-eminent on-base threat with serious pop, even without a big third defense. The swag monster that is Javier Báez it’s Eddie Rosario-esque in his aura and aggression and also brings boyish power and a winning mantra.
The rotation will now be without Jose Quintana initially after cutting the thumb by washing the dishes. Yu darvish he used his exceptional cutter and almost cut the ERA in half after the break in 2019. The soft launch Kyle Hendricks he finished 20th among 61 ERA qualified starts (3.46) last summer. Darvish and Hendricks are a solid 1-2 punch, in both orders. Jon Lester it was barely average with an ERA + of 100 in 2019.
The bullpen has been distressing for much of last summer. The group ranked 22nd in Win Probability Added (-1.74) and 20th in fWAR (1.3). Craig Kimbrel he had a 6.53 ERA in 20 innings and blew up three saves, including a crucial loss to the Cardinals at Wrigley on September 21st. It has to be better.
Puppies have a lot of talent. There is no doubt that they could put it all together in a stretch of 60 games. Will they do it?
The Reds tore both of them away Mike Moustakas is Nick Castellanos by their enemy divisors. Castellanos was a threat to the pot in Chicago, hitting .321 with a 1.002 OPS in 51 games. He will go to a baseball field that ranked 8th in the home run factor in 2019. Moustakas has not been exceptional with only 6.9 bWAR combined in 443 games since 2017, but adds more power.
Eugenio Suarez a year ago a career peak .572 with 49 humeri. Return to the heart of the training with the future Hall-of-Famer Joey Votto, which is about to come out in a season in which it released a .357 OBP. This interrupted a four-season streak of an OBP of 400 or higher for the first baseman.
The reds have three potential aces inside Luis Castillo, Sonny Gray is Trevor Bauer. Castillo works with a fast ball in the 91st percentile for speed and a really disgusting change. Gray rose in 2019, reaching an ERA 2.87 and 5.6 bWAR in innings of 175 ⅓. Bauer conceded 40 throws in his first 56 innings for the Reds, but at just two years he was removed from the ace in 2018.
The Reds’ bullpen came in 12th place in the fWAR last year, even with a poor campaign closely Raisel Iglesias, who released an ERA of 4.16 in 68 games. Two-way phenomenon Michael Lorenzen it was exceptional with a 2.92 ERA and high 90s stuff in 83 innings.
The Reds have some legitimate weapons. If Bauer can return to form and Castellanos is the newly acquired Shogo Akiyama hit outside the gate, they can escape with the central NL.
Games: 4 – 3, 4, 5, 6 August
Pirate alignment isn’t bad on paper. Josh Bell emerged as an All-Star last year with 37 home runs. Bryan Reynolds hit the ball hard and cut an incredible .314 / .377 / .503 with 37 doubles in 134 games. Useful infielder Kevin Newman hit .308 with patience similar to Luis Arraez and not much else. When it is healthy, and now it is, Gregory Polanco can cause serious damage to the pot. This formation is much better than that of Detroit.
In 2019 none of the first pirates were average or better. Joe Musgrove, who moved to Pittsburgh in the Gerrit Cole trade, has had a 4.28 ERA since joining the Bucs.
Pirates have more league talents than tigers but reside in a much tougher division. NL Central had four competitive teams, compared to two (now three) in AL Central. Pirates are not good, don’t get me wrong, but if twins have problems with their formation in early August, don’t be surprised.
Note: A pass on pirates closest to Felipe Vázquez was canceled after learning that he had been in prison since September. It is not expected to launch this season.
