The 38-year-old pop star went under custody in 2008 following her breakdown, with Jamie named conservator of her personal affairs and Andrew in charge of her estate.
The lawyer resigned in March 2019, while Jamie cited health reasons when he left six months later, with authorized conservator Jodi Montgomery appointed on a temporary basis.
Jamie’s petition comes after her daughter’s lawyer filed a lawsuit earlier this week, in which she insisted she was “strongly opposed” to her father’s return as the only Conservative and would “strongly prefer” that Jodi remained in the role.
Britney would prefer a “qualified corporate trustee” to take care of her business.
The hearing was set for September 16.
Meanwhile, Jamie recently labeled the #FreeBritney movement – an online campaign calling for an end to the singer’s guardianship after 12 years – “a joke.”
She shared, “All these conspiracy theorists know nothing. The world hasn’t a clue. It’s up to the California court to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s nobody else’s business.”
The 68-year-old patriarch also spread rumors that he or others would take money from the singer’s “Lucky” estate.
He got angry: “I have to report every penny I spend to the court every year. How the hell would I steal anything?”
