Former Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce would have time at Newcastle United, despite their impending takeover.

The Premier League is confirming the purchase of £ 300 million from the Tyneside club, with a Saudi-backed consortium expected to take over from Mike Ashley.

Bruce faces a situation very similar to the one he encountered at Villa when Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris completed their buyout in 2018.

He had time to prove himself under the new owners, before finally giving way to Dean Smith only a few months after the start of the season.

It has been suggested that the new Magpies ownership group may be looking to replace Bruce, with a chain of linked senior managers.

However, according to Sky Sports, Bruce will have until the end of the season to prove that he is the man who will guide Newcastle to European football.

Newcastle should be well supported in the transfer market, with a whole series of potential objectives mentioned.

A number come from his former club Villa, John McGinn and Jack Grealish both linked to a move.

But it’s another Villa player on social media who thinks Bruce might choose to sign.

Ahmed Elmohamady

Ahmed Elmohamady has already been signed by Bruce three times, the Egyptian joining him in Sunderland, Hull and finally Villa. And with the manager who should receive a transfer warchest, the fans couldn’t resist tilting the pair for another meeting.
