In a demonstration of support for the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s “Changing course” initiative, the 12-time winner of the PGA TOUR and the double Masters champion Bubba Watson and Harold Varner III will team up with former world No. 1 Jason Day and Wesley Bryan at a casual nine-hole exhibit at the Detroit Golf Club to raise funds to end the digital divide in Detroit.
The friendly exhibition will be broadcast as a special presentation of PGA TOUR LIVE and will be broadcast simultaneously on Golf Channel and other PGA TOUR media platforms, including PGA TOUR social channels. GOLFTV powered by PGA TOUR will cover internationally. Fans can send “AREA313” to 243725 to donate to Change the Course and end the digital divide in Detroit.
Changing Course is the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s new multi-year initiative that aims to end the digital divide in Detroit and ensure that every Detroit resident has access to the Internet, technology and digital literacy training.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun going out on Wednesday for a little bit of fun and laughing with friends to raise money for a great cause,” said Watson. “When I heard about what Rocket Mortgage and the tournament were doing to provide Internet access for Detroit residents, I knew I wanted to get started and do what I could to help. I hope fans will enjoy taking a look inside the jokes we always have during a workout and supporting the effort by giving what they can. “
Players will play the bottom nine of the tournament course, including the famous tournament AREA 313 (holes 14-15-16). Wednesday’s exhibition kicks off AREA 313 challenge – any golfer who scores 3-1-3 on these holes during the four rounds of the tournament will trigger a donation of $ 313,000 on behalf of the player in favor of the initiative Change course of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. In addition, Rocket Mortgage has committed to donate $ 5,000 for every 3 holes on hole 14, $ 25,000 for every 1 hole in 15 and $ 5,000 for every 3 holes in hole hole 16.
