Cars produced by Kia Motors’ Gwangju Plant could not be transported to Mokpo Port, the export port, due to a strike by the Cargo Solidarity, and the plaza of the outdoor music hall of Gwangju City Hall was filled with cars produced by Kia Motors.

The Kia Motors Gwangju plant announced on the 14th that its employees had driven and moved 400 vehicles produced at the Gwangju plant, including Sportage, Soul, and Bongo trucks, to the outdoor music hall of Gwangju City Hall.

Kia Motors’ Gwangju plant produces about 2,000 vehicles a day, but as storage places in the factory, the shipping area of the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex, and the temporary storage yard in Jangseong, Jeollanam-do, etc. were saturated, the vehicles were stored in the outdoor music hall of Gwangju City Hall as a workaround.

These vehicles are to be exported overseas, but they cannot be transported to the port of Mokpo due to the prolonged strike by the cargo solidarity.
It was decided to be temporarily stored in the outdoor music hall of Gwangju City Hall.

The Kia Motors Gwangju plant is moving vehicles to the space within the unit with the cooperation of the 1st Fighter Wing of the Air Force, or is reviewing the parking lot of the Gwangju City Civil Service Training Center as a vehicle storage location.

Kia Motors’ Gwangju plant said it was an emergency situation in which 70% of its total production was exported, and it was an emergency to seek cooperation from government offices or public institutions to stock up vehicles produced at the Gwangju plant.
