China Shanghai eases coronavirus quarantine requirements

The authorities of the city of Shanghai in China have decided to partially ease quarantine measures for the new coronavirus from the 5th.

In a notice posted on China’s WeChat social network on the 4th, city officials said Shanghai residents would no longer need to submit a negative coronavirus test result within 48 hours before using public transportation and entering outdoor spaces such as parks and attractions to tourists.

It follows that major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, and Chengdu have decided to stop all mandatory inspections before using public transport.

In addition to this, Beijing, the capital of China, announced on the 3rd that it would abolish the compulsory registration of real names to buy cold and antipyretic drugs.

The move comes after protests began on the 26th of last month, when residents across China protested against the Chinese authorities’ response to the new coronavirus.

On the other hand, after China recorded the highest number of infected people on the 27th, 38,808, the number of new coronavirus infections decreased for six consecutive days, and on the 4th, the number of infected people was reported to be 30,889.
