Commander Keen’s mobile game appears to have been canceled

The Commander Keen game, this story probably reminds you that it might not happen.

At E3 last year, Bethesda announced a very different Commander Keen mobile game. It was big enough to secure its own segment as part of the publisher’s E3 show.

The first trailer gave us a glimpse of the new artistic style and character designs. It was not particularly well received, although fans were mostly confused about the comic book, a light new direction. Now, a year later, all references to the restart have been removed from various Bethesda websites.

As spotted by Nitomatta, Games Web page now redirects to the Bethesda home page. There is no longer any trace of it on social media. The only thing I found was an E3 blog post summarizing the ad. The video embedded on this page has also been made private.

The publisher has not announced an exit target and has yet to explain the reason for the changes. It is possible that the game has been quietly canceled, but it is also possible that it will be restarted and reappear in the future.

Bethesda did not return repeated requests for comment.
