Congressional Election Update: Digvijay Singh pulls out of Congress National President election. Singh came forward with this decision on the last day of nomination papers.

Meanwhile, Mallikarjun Kharge’s name is coming up for the post of Congress President. Digvijay Singh withdraws by declaring his support for senior leader Kharge, whom Sonia Gandhi trusts.

Digvijay Singh said that Mallikarjun Kharge is a senior leader than him and he has decided to support him. Singh also said that if Kharge were to submit nomination papers for the post of Congress President, he will not submit papers.

Digvijay Singh said that he has worked for the Congress all his life and will continue to do so. He will not compromise on some things, stand for dalits, adivasis and the poor. “Fighting those who disturb communal harmony is his commitment to the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family,” Singh said.

With Digvijay Singh pulling out of the Congress National President election, only Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor remained in the race. Currently, Mallikarjun Kharge is the front runner.

Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari has announced that he will be Mallikarjun Kharge’s spokesperson in the Congress presidential election. Digvijay Singh said, “BJPs should see elections happening in Congress and this is not happening in your party.” Singh added that the Gandhi family had not interfered in this election.

In accordance with the timetable announced for the election of the Congress president, the notification was published on September 22 and the time for submission of nomination papers was fixed between September 24 and September 30. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is 8 October . If more than one candidate competes then the vote will be held on 17th October and the result will be announced on 19th…!!
