Where does coronavirus come from?
The current outbreak is likely due to people who bought it from a fresh market, also known as the “wet market” in Wuhan, China.
Although it is a new strain in humans, it is likely that the virus was transmitted between different animal species and then transferred to humans on the market.
The virus spreads from person to person through small nasal or oral droplets that are released when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or expires.
These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person and can remain persistent for a few hours or even days.
Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.
This is why it is important to wear a face mask, keep your hands clean and stay away from an infected person.
How long will the coronavirus epidemic last?
Scientists are still speculating on the duration of the coronavirus.
One answer is until a remedy is developed. So far, there is no vaccine or cure for any coronavirus, including the current COVID-19 virus, and one year is the shortest possible time, with 18 months of the most likely target.
It has also been suggested that the coronavirus may be a seasonal virus and only time will tell if this is the case.
Some experts estimate that the epidemic will peak in May this year.
