The mayor of Reims, Arnaud Robinet (LR) also reacted and expressed his sadness following the death of one of his elected colleagues. “With the departure of Alain Lescouet, we lose a good man in the service of his town and his territory. Saint Brice Courcelles loses a grand mayor and we, more than a colleague: a friend. My sincere condolences to his family, loved ones and Bricocorcéliens“.
Former socialist candidate for mayor of Châlons-en-Champagne, Rudy Namur, praises the “big heart” of the deceased mayor. “Sad this morning to learn of the death of Alain LESCOUET – Mayor of Saint-Brice-Courcelles – patient of Covid-19, a frank talk and a big heart with whom I sat on the General Council between 2011 and 2015 “.
Municipal councilor of various left Saint Brice Courcelles since 1983, he became Deputy Mayor in 1986 and was elected mayor for the first time in 1993. He will then be in elections, constantly renewed. Grand Reims will entrust him with the management of public transport and will lead the project to build the Tramway. Vice-President of Reims Métropole from March 2014 to December 2016, he will manage the collection and disposal of household waste.
The reactions are already numerous following this announcement. Mario Rossi, vice-president of the departmental council of Marne and assistant (UDI) to the mayor of Reims, for example expressed himself on Facebook. “Collapsed to learn of the death of Alain Lescouet, mayor of Saint Brice Courcelles. A companion of more than 20 years through the community council. Beyond the labels, he had accompanied the transport projects with Jean Louis Schneiter who bore him a sincere affection. For the Restos du Coeur, he welcomed me to create an integration garden in his commune.
A man of listening, sensitive and generous: a model of humanism and discretion. Very sad, I offer my condolences to his family and his many loved ones.

Man of convictions
Former assistant to Adeline Hazan, specialist in mobility and transport. He was one of the last left mayors in Grand Reims. But not sectarian and could argue with the right. Renowned quite hard in negotiations, with the CGT of Citura when he was assistant to transport in Reims Métropole, as we said at the time. In Saint Brice, it was much appreciated. He was also the last mayor who kept the week of 4 and a half days in school. A man of conviction.
On January 1, 2017 Reims Métropole and the surrounding communities merged to become the Greater Reims urban community. Elected vice president of this urban community Alain Lescouet will then be in charge of roads, car parks and car poundage.
The inhabitants of Saint Brice Courcelles recognize a certain quality of life between good infrastructure, the music school linked to the elementary school, a media library and the presence of a good number of associations.
