Over 50 residents of a nursing home in California have tested positive for coronavirus – and two of the patients died from the disease, officials said on Tuesday.
San Bernardino County health officials said that all residents of the Cedar Mountain Rehabilitation Center should assume that they have contracted COVID-19.
In addition to the 51 residents who have tested positive so far at Cedar Mountain, six staff have also been confirmed to be infected with the virus.
It is not known how many residents currently live in the nursing home. A Yelp page for business declares to have 95 beds.
The facility was closed to visitors under the state home stay order. It also does not accept new residents.
California recorded more than 8,200 cases of coronavirus and reported 173 deaths on Tuesday.
Rest homes, including one in Washington State, have been particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus because they are mainly home to elderly residents with chronic illnesses.
