Cosplay, DJ Battle, and Street Sports: How Minsk Youth Will Celebrate City Day

According to the Minsk City Executive Committee Telegram channel, the primary celebrations will center around the Park of Culture and Rest Named after the 50th Anniversary of Great October.

Youth Subcultures and Main Stage Lineup

Festivities will kick off with official wreath-laying ceremonies at the Minsk Hero City Stele before shifting focus to the park’s dedicated youth zone starting at 13:00 local time, as outlined by Aleksey Pikus, the first secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the BRSM (Belarusian Republican Youth Union), during an official press conference reported by BelTA. The afternoon program features a heavy lineup of modern urban arts, including a large-scale DJ battle where young metropolitan disc jockeys will present their club sets before a panel of judges and the public.

According to BelTA, the entertainment schedule also incorporates a vibrant cosplay parade showcasing anime, video game, and cinematic geek aesthetics crafted by participants. The evening portion transitions into live performances from youth rock bands and rap artists, featuring a dedicated rap battle, dance showcases, and a beatbox contest. Sputnik Belarus notes that attendees arriving individually can form impromptu teams on-site to participate in various competitive events and win prizes.

Street Sports and Creative Workshops

The athletic programming spans multiple extreme and street sports disciplines, offering master classes, demonstrations, and training elements. Sourced reporting from Sputnik Belarus and BelTA confirms that the sports zone covers skateboarding, scooter riding, BMX, football and basketball freestyling, street workout, and streetball, with professional athletes guiding beginners through the fundamentals.

Alongside physical competitions, the creative block highlights visual arts with graffiti creators painting on plywood installations. Pikus stated via BelTA that the creative zone will host a manga and comic drawing master class alongside an interactive installation where visitors can leave written wishes for the city. Additional satellite youth events will operate concurrently across various district parks and public squares throughout the capital, according to Sputnik Belarus.
