Kolkata – The anti-Trinamool CPM-BJP alliance has won a major victory in the elections held in Midnapore, Bengal. The Bengal Bachao Samiti, formed by CPM and BJP, won 52 out of 63 seats unopposed. The Trinamool Congress claimed that this was a CPM-BJP alliance ahead of the panchayat elections to be held next year.

BJP and CPM, said to be arch rivals in national politics, have joined hands to defeat Trinamool in the Bahrampur Cooperative Agricultural Credit Society elections in Nandakumar block. The Trinamool, which filed for 46 seats, withdrew all 35.
