[Reuters, 21st Cairo]–Egyptian security officials met with Israeli Prime Minister Bennett and Crown Prince Muhammad of Abu Dhabi, the de facto leader of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the 21st. Clarified.
The Egyptian Presidential Office announced that Mr. Shishi had a meeting with Crown Prince Muhammad at the resort town of Sharm El Sheikh on the Red Sea coast and had extensive discussions on investment and other matters.
According to Cheong Wa Dae, Mr. Shishi was committed to security in the Gulf region and emphasized his stance of “refusing any action aimed at destabilization.”
He did not mention the meeting with Prime Minister Bennett, but Egyptian security sources said the three had discussed the effects of the war in Ukraine.
The UAE, like Saudi Arabia, has not responded to the demands of Western nations calling for increased production to curb high oil prices following the Ukraine conflict.
Egypt’s economy has been squeezed by the war in Ukraine and devalued its currency by 14% on the 21st. In the past, he has sought financial support from wealthy Gulf countries.
