Melbourne: A fan was fined Rs 6.5 lakh for running to catch captain Rohit Sharma during India’s final match against Zimbabwe in the Twenty20 World Cup. The child ran crying in front of the Indian captain, blindfolded by the security personnel. Soon after, the security personnel came and took the child away.
A huge fine was issued for a breach of discipline at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The fan reached the ground during Zimbabwe’s reply in the match. The security personnel jumped and grabbed the boy, but Rohit Sharma came running to greet him. The video footage of the incident is being widely circulated on social media.
India defeated Zimbabwe by 71 runs in the match. India’s opponents are England in the semi-final in Adelaide.
