With the amount of pitcher injuries we’ve already seen this truncated season, it’s been rare to have a night where it’s actually hard to narrow down the starters you might want to use. In a welcome twist, that won’t be the case tonight. Shane Bieber ($ 10,800) and Gerrit Cole ($ 10,600) headline what is arguably the strongest crop of pitchers I remember seeing in 2020, meaning offense could be a prize on this 10-in-first game plan. DraftKings.

What arms should you build DraftKings lineups around? We analyze everything position by position.

JUG

Pin

Lucas Giolito, CWS vs PIT, $ 9,700 – If Giolito had a problem through six starts in 2020, it was a walk. The former top prospect has conceded a free pass to 11.3% of the 142 batters he has faced so far this season, largely thanks to Giolito who has attracted less swing on fields outside the strike zone than in 2019. However, this does not it should be a problem against the Pirates, who entered the list on Tuesday with the lowest walking rate in the National League (6.9%). They also possess the BN’s lowest ISO (.132) and second-highest oscillating hit rate (12.9%). All of this should be music to Giolito’s ears, especially considering his high strikeout on the upside regardless of the opponent.

Other options: Shane Bieber ($ 10,800), Luis Castillo ($ 9,600)

Value

Sean Manaea, OAK at TEX, $ 7,500 – Of course it’s still pretty worrying that Manaea still has 80 pitches to go in a 2020 outing, but the southpaw is coming out of his best performance of the season and his price has never been this low. It also wasn’t pitched as badly as its 6.40 ERA would suggest. Across 25.1 innings, Manaea maintained an xFIP of 3.62, thanks largely to its ability to suppress the opponent’s throw angle and its 4.40K / BB pound ratio. I would be a little surprised if we didn’t see the LHP throw at least six frames against a Rangers attack in distress compared to what currently ranks last in the league in wRC + (66).

Other option: Chris Paddack ($ 7,800)

James McCann, CWS vs PIT, $ 4,200 – Throughout baseball’s professional life McCann was simply a different player when he had the opportunity to hit a left-handed pitcher. The backstop has a .505 wOBA in his 20 base division appearances so far in 2020, while McCann’s 121 wRC + career against LHP is considerably higher than his score against RHP. Steven Brault ($ 5,900) has been decent this season, but he’s none other than your average southpaw with a disappointing contact rate.

Other option: Gary Sanchez ($ 4,800)

Value

Joey Bart, SF v LAD, $ 3,700 – While the Giants have one of the lowest implied team totals on the list, I have no problem using Bart on an island. He is a small champion we are dealing with, but the former second-overall pick can clearly strike at this level. In other words, Bart managed to pick up an extra-base shot in the first three games of his career, and of his eight batting ball events, two were barrels. Check out the rookie in this right-to-left matchup.

Other option: Yadier Molina ($ 3,600)

FIRST BASE

Pin

Luke Voit, NYY at ATL, $ 4,400 – We all know that Ian Anderson ($ 8,100) has the skill and pedigree to pitch at the MLB level. Even on his major league debut, I wouldn’t necessarily want to stack up against the RHP. However, when it comes to Voit specifically, his vitality is more a matter of respect. The huge first base comes in this bout with the Braves leading all qualified players in ISO (.416), sitting second in wRC + (196) and finishing third in OPS (1.115). It should definitely be priced above $ 5K.

Other options: Matt Olson ($ 5,300), Jose Abreu ($ 5,000)

Value

Hunter Dozier, KC at STL, $ 3,900 – Just like Voit, Dozier looks a bit inexpensive on tonight’s list. The 29-year-old has looked fantastic since returning from IL, cutting .256 / .396 / .512 with a 148 wRC + in his 53 base appearances. Yes, I’d generally prefer to attack Adam Wainwright ($ 8,400) with LHB, but I’m more than willing to settle for a red-hot right hander over shots in the top third of the Royals lineup.

Other option: Edwin Encarnacion ($ 3,800)

SECOND BASE

Pin

Mike Moustakas, CIN and MIL, $ 5,100 – To be completely honest, on Tuesday I’ll probably try to save some salary at second base, but if you have the means, Moustakas has a lot of advantages. Miller Park has long been considered one of the best hitter parks in MLB and Moustakas is full of energy. Also, if you’re going to choose Brandon Woodruff ($ 8,200), it’s best to do it with a lefty. Woodruff tends to shy away from his cursor when facing an LHB, which, over the course of his career, has resulted in a lower strikeout rate and higher wOBA within the division.

Value

Jake Cronenworth, SD v SEA, $ 3,500 – Even in a left-to-left matchup, Cronenworth is hard to ignore. The rookie is currently riding a streak of eight straight wins, while also being one of only two players with at least 80 plate appearances with an ISO above 0.275 and a strikeout rate below 15.0%. In short, he was really, really good for the Padres in 2020. I didn’t expect him to change against the contact-oriented Marco Gonzales ($ 6,600) or the shaky Seattle bullpen.

THIRD BASE

Pin

Nolan Arenado, COL at ARI, $ 4,900 – So, you know that whole thing where Rocky Mountain players generally can’t hit far from Coors? Well, Arenado is really trying to keep this stereotype alive in 2020. The All-Star has somehow achieved a -6 wRC + in its 52 road appearances, which is so bad it almost feels like I need to sanitize my own. laptop after looking for it. Anyway, it ends on Tuesday. Alex Young ($ 6,300) is a southpaw – Arenado’s favorite division – who has been rocked in his previous appearances; giving a rod to 9.2% of batters he has faced Of the 121 pitchers with at least 50 batting ball events this season, this is the second worst rate.

Other option: Matt Chapman ($ 5,300)

Value

Evan Longoria, SF v LAD, $ 3,800 – While most aspects of Longoria’s game have fallen off a precipice in recent years, the 34-year-old was still able to consistently hit the pitch with his left hand. In other words, Longoria recorded a 125 wRC + in his 161 appearances in the 2019 division, and so far in 2020, he is 8 out of 25 (.320) with a couple of home runs in his opportunities against left-handers. It will provide a decent amount of upside at its sub $ 4K price.

SHORTSTOP

Pin

Tim Anderson, CWS vs PIT, $ 5,400 – I’m not even sure you can call this a variance game, but I imagine Anderson comes with a lot less ownership than Fernando Tatis Jr. ($ 5,600) on this list. Both have absolutely punished left-handed throwing so far in 2020, but Anderson’s numbers, in particular, are almost unbelievable. The 27-year-old is 14 out of 24 (.583) within the division, with 11 of those 14 hits going for extra bases. It works with a mind-blowing ISO .917. I know, it’s a small champion size, but at the end of the day, Anderson is also just a leadoff hitter with a .442 wOBA.

Other option: Trevor Story ($ 5,200)

Value

Brendan Rodgers, COL at ARI, $ 3,100 – Rodgers struggled to do anything while he was at the major league level for the past two seasons, but we’re still talking about a guy with a lot of advantages. Rodgers came in 2020 ranked the Rocky Mountain Top Prospect and No. 29 in all baseball according to MLB Pipeline. If he’s in Colorado squad tonight, I’ll try him in a big match against the aforementioned Young. With its multi-location suitability, you can also get it into the same build as Story, which obviously helps for stacking purposes.

OUTFIELD

Pin

Eloy Jimenez, CWS vs PIT, $ 4,900 – I wrote many White Sox players in this article. There is a reason for this. Let’s just say, if you are someone who believes in karma and reincarnation, a bad person could return to this world as a left-handed pitcher who gently throws against this Chicago batting order. The White Sox have demolished the LHPs to a 168 wRC + league leader so far in 2020 and Jimenez was a vital part of that success. In fact, the second year released a whopping ISO .333 within the division. Brault has no chance.

Other option: Cody Bellinger ($ 5,700)

Value

Wil Myers, SD v SEA, $ 3,400 – Overshadowed by Tatis’s greatness, Myers has quietly put together a truly beautiful season for the Padres. Enter tonight’s match with the Mariners by cutting .271 / .352 / .573 with a 147 wRC +, with most of the damage coming against the left-handed throw. Myers is 11/27 (.407) with four home runs in the split and you should think he is licking his chops at the prospect of facing Gonzales on Tuesday.

Other options: Mike Tauchman ($ 3,600), David Peralta ($ 3,500)
