Motibhai Group of Companies has confirmed that its Tan mackerel line has never been banned in Malaysia.

This was verified by the Fiji Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission.

Opposition member Lenora Qereqeretabua raised concerns in parliament that canned fish were distributed by the National Disaster Management Office despite being banned for nematodes in Malaysia.

FCCC Director General of Operations, Senikavika Jiuta, says he contacted Motibhai and was assured that the claims about the ban on Tan Sardines were inaccurate and inaccurate.

Motibhai raised this problem with their supplier Zhangzhou Tan Co. Ltd, which confirmed that it had not exported mackerel or sardines to Malaysia.

The company was also told that Zhangzhou never received any prohibitions or restrictions because of quality problems.

The FCCC has obtained written confirmation in this regard.

Jiuta says that if a Fijian believes there is a violation of consumer rights, he must report it to the Commission instead of providing false information that can cause national panic.
