Chaby Hernandez, the former Barcelona star and current coach of the Qatari Al Sadd club, is looking forward to recreating the old days in which the Blaugrana team dominated Spain and Europe with enjoyable style and overwhelming results.
Chabi said that coaching Barcelona remains his dream, but it is not yet time to start a new journey in the Catalan club.
“My greatest hope now is to train Barcelona and return the team to the days of victories. I am the club man. I hope to return in time to start a project from scratch,” the Spaniard said in an interview with the Sport newspaper.
The 40-year-old former midfielder continued, “I have said it repeatedly, but I want to make decisions about football in Barcelona. It is clear that after the elections things will be ripe, of course. I do not rule out anything.”
“They came for me in January, we talked. I told them that the conditions and time are not right,” he said.
Barcelona wanted to succeed Chebbi for Ernesto Valverde in the first man’s seat in the team, but the first apologized for the club contracting with its current coach Kiki Citin.
Shabi has been leading Al Sadd since last year and crowned him with the Qatar Super Cup and Qatar Cup.
A young man entered Barcelona in 1997 at the age of 17 and did not leave until 2015 to join the dam.
He played 4 seasons at Al Sadd before retiring and taking over the club.
