A toxic mold occurred in an eco-friendly house built by American Hollywood actor Brad Pitt (58) to help hurricane victims 10 years after completion, and one resident died. Residents who believed in Brad Pitt and lived in the house filed a lawsuit against him.

According to foreign media such as The Guardian and Page Six on the 12th (local time), Brad Pitt organized his foundation ‘Make It Light’ the following year to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which struck the Lower Nineth Ward area in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2005. (Make It Right) announced that they would support the restoration project in the area.

Brad Pitt originally had plans to build about 150 eco-friendly homes in the area that would be flood-proof.

However, in houses built against his intentions, defects such as plumbing and ventilation, as well as problems such as leakage, waterproofing, and moisture, started to rot. As a result, termites and toxic mold grew in some houses, resulting in the death of one resident.

Residents filed a lawsuit against Brad Pitt in 2018. “The residents believed in Pete, but unfortunately what they got was a rotten house,” said Ron Austin, an attorney representing the residents. “I will fight every day to get an answer on how to fix this problem.”

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt’s lawyers have reportedly demanded that Pitt’s name be removed from the list of lawsuits, saying that it was “not responsible for the construction of the house.”

An aide to Brad Pitt also said, “Pitt has also made clear that he is not legally responsible, but he is making personal efforts to settle the lawsuit amicably.
