Rep Greg Gianforte, a Republican from Montana who presented an identical bill to the House, supported it.
Senator Daines did not. His circular and bogus excuse to block this common sense bipartisan bill? It would never get bipartisan support. Except that the bill already had champions from all over the party.
We believe the reason Senator Daines stopped was because, just like this year, it was re-election time and Senator Tester was campaigning. Oddly, after Tester won re-election, Senator Daines’ stalemate ended abruptly. The bill was signed into law the following March.
Daines sat quietly rather than defending his constituents when called to protect the Yellowstone gate, and now he wants credit. Don’t be fooled. When Montanans called for this bill, Senator Daines did not deliver.
