(CNN) – Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced Wednesday to 23 years in prison by Judge James Burke after his conviction for crimes of sexual abuse.

For first-degree criminal sexual act: 20 years in prison

For violation in third grade: 3 years in prison.

Sentences will be executed consecutively and both entail 5 years of supervision after leaving prison.

Weinstein, 67, arrived at his sentencing hearing in a wheelchair and with handcuffs. The former film producer faced between five and 29 years for last month’s convictions for first-degree criminal sexual acts and third-degree rapes.

The charges were based on testimony in a New York court by Miriam Haley and Jessica Mann, who spoke in the ruling.

“If Harvey Weinstein had not been convicted by this jury, it would have happened again and again,” Haley said Wednesday in court. “I am relieved that I now know that it is not above the law. I am relieved that there are safer women because he is not there. ”

Haley and the other five women who testified against Weinstein at his trial, Mann, actress Annabella Sciorra and three witnesses of “previous bad acts,” came to court with prosecutors and sat in the front row. Actress Rosie Pérez, who testified in support of Sciorra’s claims, entered with them and sat in the second row.

Weinstein was acquitted of two more serious charges of predatory sexual assault, which could have meant life imprisonment.

Harvey Weinstein addressed the court for almost 20 minutes. Weinstein spent much of it discussing his problems with the #metoo movement.

Weinstein said he is concerned about this country and the right of people to due process.

Weinstein told the judge that he wanted to testify during the trial, but his lawyers warned him that he would harm his case.

He added that their wives did not know about their extramarital sex life. “I tried my best to hide my extramarital affairs.”

“I haven’t seen my three oldest children since the newspaper article came out The New York Times. I have not seen them. I have no idea what they are doing. I have no contact. That to me is hell on earth. ”

He also said during the height of his career: “He had no great powers.” Weinstein said he interpreted the affectionate messages of Jessica Mann and Miriam Haley read in court during the trial “as a serious friendship. That’s what I think I had with them. ”
