Hindutva clamoring for England is nothing new; 100 years of history: Ashok Swain

NEW DELHI: Educationist and writer Ashok Swain has objected to the propaganda of Hindutva extremist groups regarding the match between England and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup final.

Ashok Swain said that there is a history of 100 years behind the Hindutvaists clamoring for England. His response was via tweet.

‘A Hindu supremac-isst cries out for England. This is nothing new; This is 100 years of history,’ tweeted Ashok Swain.

Ashok Swain’s tweet was when the T20 World Cup final was going on. After the England-Pakistan match in the final, Hindutvadis shared comments that they supported England to defeat the ‘enemy country’ Pakistan.

This led to hate speech on Twitter. Criticisms against him are that these campaigns have gone beyond the sportsman’s spirit. Ashok Swain’s tweet is in this situation.

Meanwhile, England won the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 by defeating Pakistan. England beat Pakistan by five wickets.

England’s captain, Jos Buttler, won the toss and elected to bowl, putting in a performance that confirmed the bowlers’ resolve, and England easily overcame the target of 138 runs set by Pakistan.

Captain Babar Azam scored 32 runs while Shan Masood scored 38 runs for Pakistan. In the end, Pakistan ended the contest with eight wickets for 137 runs.
