Lahore: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking the release of the main suspect in the assassination attempt of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He was allegedly detained illegally. The Punjab Police registered a case of attempted murder on Tuesday. Naveed Muhammad Basheer is the main accused.
A video of Basheer’s confession has been released. He said he was trying to kill Imran Khan because he was leading the people in the wrong path. There was a protest in Pakistan for not filing a case despite the assassination attempt The action took place on Tuesday after the Supreme Court demanded that the Punjab government take steps to file a case within 24 hours. Last Thursday, 70-year-old Imran was shot in the right leg while leading a procession in Wazirabad, Punjab province.
