Infinix Hot 9: Infinix Hot 9 Review: Infinix Hot 9 Review & Rating

Infinix recently launched two new smartphones to the Indian market – Infinix Hot 9 and Infinix Hot 9 Pro. These two smartphones are entry-level phones whose price is less than 10,000 rupees. The Infinix Hot 9 series is the successor to the Infinix Hot 8 series.

We have been using the Infinix Hot 9 for a while. The smartphone is equipped with the MediaTek Helio P22 processor and has features such as the configuration of four rear cameras. The smartphone is available in two colors: Ocean Wave and Violet. We received the purple color variant of Infinix Hot 9 and here is our opinion on the smartphone

Infinix Hot 9: design and display

Infinix Hot 9 comes with a large 6.6-inch HD + screen. The smartphone offers a perforated display at the front placed in the upper left corner. The display hole houses the front camera. The device offers thinner glasses on the sides. The smartphone has a plastic body with curved edges. It has a two-tone color design with a diamond cut on the back. The phone is available in two color options, blue and purple which tends to get darker downwards.

To the right is the volume control button and the power button placed one after the other. The top edge of the screen is clean, with no ports. At the bottom edge is the micro USB charging port. Next to it is the 3.5mm headphone jack. The speaker grille is also placed on the bottom edge.

As mentioned above, the phone has a plastic body. It offers a pill-shaped quad camera module on the back. Three LED flashlights are placed next to the camera setup. The back side also has a fingerprint scanner to unlock the device.

Infinix Hot 9: performance

Infinix Hot 9 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor with a clock speed of 2 GHz. As a successor, Infinix Hot 9 has the same processor as Infinix Hot 8. This comes as a disappointment not only in terms of specifications but also in terms of performance. There is a noticeable loading time for applications. The phone tends to hang often, especially with heavy applications. Switching between applications is also slow.

The processor becomes more difficult compared to what the competitors of the device offer. Realme 5, for example, has a Snapdragon 665 processor. While the recently launched Realme Narzo 10A comes with MediaTek Helio G70.

The Infinix Hot 9 handset runs on an operating system based on Android 10 and contains 4 GB of RAM. This is combined with 64 GB of internal storage expandable up to 256 GB using a microSD card. The phone user interface is not clean and comes with many applications preinstalled. Instagram, Messenger, Facebook, XClub, Phone Master, AHA Games, Yo Party, PHX Browser, Palm Store and other games are the names of these apps that come with the phone. Although not all, many applications of this type can be uninstalled.

Running on a custom operating system based on Android 10, the phone offers many gestural navigations like swiping three fingers together to capture a screenshot. There is a game mode to block notifications during the game.

Speaking of the fingerprint scanner, the sensor works great. It is neither fast enough nor too slow to complain.

Infinix Hot 9: Camera

The phone has a single camera on the front and a four-lens camera configuration on the back. For selfies, users will get an 8MP camera with features like AI Portrait, AI 3D Face Beauty, WideSelfie, AR Animoji and AI 3D Body Shaping. Infinix Hot 9 clicks of the decent daylight selfie photos we can say are worthy of social media. You can also add stickers to your selfies using the sticker features built into the app.

We would also like to add that if you are a fan of artificially embellished images, you might end up loving the Infinix Hot 9 selfies. We think the photos are exaggerated in terms of embellishment and don’t look natural. The camera has trouble capturing selfies in the night light.

The rear four camera configuration includes a 13 MP main sensor with an aperture size of f / 1.8. This is coupled with a 2 MP depth sensor, a 2 MP macro lens and a low light sensor. Some of the features provided with the phone are automatic scene detection and various modes such as Custom Bokeh, AI HDR, AI 3D Beauty, Panorama, AR Animoji, AI 3D Body Shaping. In terms of camera capabilities, Infinix Hot 9 is not a “hot” device. The photos clicked are of average tone and detail. Edge detection in Bokeh mode was not clear. Although the camera offers you to set the level of blur you want in the photos, it was not even in the image clicked.

(Macro lens)

For low light photography, the phone has a low light sensor, instead of a dedicated night mode. The photos clicked at night with the Infinix Hot 9 lacked details. We can see enough noise in the background. The macro lens may also not impress you very much.

Infinix Hot 9: battery

Infinix Hot 9 is supported by a large 5000 mAh battery and a 10 watt charger. The phone offers a micro-USB port for charging, which seems a bit dated, given that other brands have also started offering Type C phones in the budget category. The smartphone can easily last a working day on a single charge. You may need to charge it to full capacity each day.

Infinix Hot 9 has many new and trendy features like the rear camera with four lenses, the perforated front camera and the large battery capacity. However, it comes with the same processor as its predecessor. At its price of Rs 8,499, Infinix Hot 9 competes with Realme Narzo 10A, Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual and its own brother Infinix Hot 8.
