Jeong Jin-seok “History itself, not colonial opinion” … Criticism from academia

Jeong Jin-seok, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee for People Power, who posted “Joseon was not destroyed because of Japanese aggression,” emphasized that his claim is not a colonial opinion.

He just wrote the story as it is, and he told me to study.

However, there was criticism among scholars that it was a colonial point of view in itself, and that Maekukno Lee Wan-yong used a similar logic, and the opposition party also harshly criticizes it.

“Joseon was not attacked by the Japanese, but rotten and rotten from the inside,” said Jeong Jin-seok, chairman of the People’s Power Hypertrophy.

Criticism of ‘colonial views’ justifying Japanese aggression is increasing, but he rebutted, saying, “I just wrote the history as it is.”

“It’s not a colonial scene, it’s history itself. Please study.”

He also quoted the essay of the independence campaigner Han Yong-un, who said, ‘There is no country that has not been invaded without self-destruction.’

However, Choi Tae-seong, a lecturer on Korean history, posted on social media a pro-Japan article written by Lee Wan-yong, saying, “The reason Joseon became a colony was because the old Korea had no power .”

It indirectly emphasized that Chairman Chung’s claim that “Joseon is rotten and dead from the inside” is similar to the logic of the pro-Japan faction.

The historians pointed out that, “It is not a forced annexation of Korea by Japan, but rather that Joseon itself is overthrowing itself in colonial opinion.”

“He did[Japan]took advantage of the loophole and now forcefully annexed Korea militarily. This is how it should be seen. The country of Joseon was leaning towards itself and collapsing, which is far from true…”

The Democratic Party launched a pro-Japan offensive against the ruling party, saying, “Is Chairman Chung the leader of Japan’s ruling party or the governor-general of Joseon?”

[김병주 / 더불어민주당 의원]

“As the ruling party leader has become embroiled in these allegations, there are constant concerns about the government’s submissive pro-Japan line.”

On the other hand, People’s Power actively defended Chairman Chung, and aimed at Representative Lee Jae-myung, saying, “Are you Kim Jong-un’s chief spokesman?”

[김기현 / 국민의힘 의원 (불교방송 라디오 ‘전영신의 아침저널’)]

“CEO Jae-myung Lee is doing exactly what Kim Jong-un wants to say… I can’t help but doubt whether the Democratic Party is a South Korean party or a big dual of the North Korean Labor Party.”

The people’s argument is that there should not be any wars in favor of Japan over the Korea-US-Japan military exercises, but in response to this, the leader of the Democratic Party Lee Jae-myung emphasized that there is no future for a nation that has forgotten history.
