“It was close! I almost became a Jill sandwich!”
Resident Evil Resistance, the multiplayer part that comes with the Resident Evil 3 remake, added Jill Valentine to the game – and players are enjoying its new dialogue.
Jill is a surviving character, which means she is available to play on a team trying to escape the clutches of the genius player. While Jill has fantastic aftershocks in the Resident Evil 3 remake – his joke “can’t even swim” at Nemesis is an instant meme – vocal actress Nicole Tompkins plays her mostly serious in the main game. But in Resistance, Tompkins has a lot more fun and increases the cheese to great effect.
“It was close! I almost became a Jill sandwich!” is perhaps my favorite of his new lines.
Of course, this refers to the most iconic line of dialogue from the first Resident Evil game:
Twitter user @TheSphereHunter made a video compilation of some of Jill’s lightest lines in Resistance. I especially like “ooh, a scary locked door”.
Played a lot of resistance. I love this game! I’ve been waiting for Jill to be released, and I have to say that I love him even more now! This game has a lighter tone than RE3R, hearing a more comical Jill is perfect! She has so many great one-liners! RES looks like a Capcom game from the 90s. pic.twitter.com/T5CwGhIrbj

When Jill walks through a locked door, she quips, “It’ll take more than that to stop me, the unlock master.”

This is of course a reference to the most emblematic of the Resident Evil lines:
Jill is proving to be a popular choice right now, which is not surprising given the character’s popularity. Multiplayer isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and the addition of Jill doesn’t suddenly solve Resistance issues, but clearly Capcom has a plan to add popular Resident Evil characters to the game for to arouse interest. Jill certainly does the trick. Who is next? Leon? Claire?
