The ‘Korea-US Startup Summit’ will be held at Pier 17, New York, USA for two days from the 20th to the 21st (local time) to support the global development of Korean startups.

The Korea-US Startup Summit, hosted by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups, the Korea Startup Promotion Agency, and Korea Venture Investment, is an event to establish a global network and expand overseas bases for domestic startups. The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and New Businesses prepared this event as part of the ‘K-Startup Global Promotion Strategy’ announced at the emergency meeting of economy ministers on the 8th.

More than 200 people, including large corporations and startups from Korea and the United States, and US venture capital (VC) and accelerators (AC) will participate in the event. It is particularly meaningful as it has provided various networking opportunities between global companies, investors, and startups in the United States and Korean conglomerates and startups in New York, where the startup ecosystem and technology industry information (IT) has developed.

In the event hall, a joint exhibition hall of 15 new businesses and three large companies such as Google, Hyundai Motor Company, and Naver Cloud will be organized, and a total of 10 programs including the main event will be implemented over two days. The Ministry of Small and Medium Businesses and Startups will showcase the excellent technologies and items of startups to the American startup ecosystem through the joint conglomerate startup pavilion, and will also present successful collaborative models between large global companies and new businesses.

The Korea-US Startup Summit program consists of three main parts. First, a program is implemented with global conglomerates. On the 20th, a collaborative model between Korean and American conglomerates (Google, AWS, Hyundai Motor, Naver Cloud) and Korean startups will be presented, and items from participating Korean startups will be published.

On the 21st, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Lee Young, Google Vice President Caranbatia, Oracle Senior Vice President Dave Rosenberg, Naver Cloud CEO Park Won-ki, and Hyundai Motor Company Vice President Hwang Yun-seong will holding a discussion under the theme ‘Core technologies and new businesses in the digital age’. A joint promotion ceremony is also planned to promise that global companies and Korean startups will work together.

There is also a program to attract initial investment. On the 21st, 10 Korean startups will hold an investment attraction IR for US VCs. In the afternoon of the same day, an agreement ceremony for the creation of a joint fund between the Korean fund fund and the US venture capital is also planned.

A networking program between Korean and American startup ecosystems will also be prepared. Through the ‘Korea-US Startup Best Practice Presentation’ held on the morning of the 21st, Ma Kuk-seong, CEO of IG Works, which has grown into a Korean unicorn, Lee Seung-jae, CEO of Bucket Place , and Gavin Kenny Alley , co-founder of the American startup Gostrobotics, share a successful strategy and I will share my experiences.

A Startup Demo Day is also held over two days. In the first part of Startup Demo Day on the 20th, 10 startups from Korea and the United States with similar items announced their respective items and sought ways to cooperate.

In the second part of the Startup Demo Day on the 21st, 14 start-ups participating in the New York program of the ‘K-Startup Center’ provide information about the company’s performance and technology to the people involved in the US startup ecosystem, including the US. ‘Mind the Bridge’ accelerator

He added, “I hope it will be of practical help in networking, corporate promotion, and investment attraction through IR, biz matching, and booth exhibition of Korean startups participating in the event.”
