The Indian team last played cricket on Pakistani soil in 2006. Superstar Virat Kohli was not in the team that day. Later, the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries deteriorated and the Indian Cricket Board avoided the series on Pakistani soil.

Since then the two teams have only met in ICC tournaments. Pakistani players do not play in the Indian Premier League. A fan’s poster during the Pakistan-England Twenty20 match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday has gone viral.

Within seconds, the poster and fan were the talk of the internet. Many people have shared this photo on social media. The poster read, ‘Kohli, play in Pakistan before retirement’. Kohli has many fans in Pakistan. After cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni and Kohli are the Indian cricketers who have more fans in Pakistan.

Kohli is yet to get a chance to play cricket on Pakistani soil. The player has played 102 Tests, 262 ODIs and 108 Twenty20 matches in his career so far. He has 71 international centuries to his name.
