Mercedes will drive a black instead of a gray car this Formula 1 season. The German racing stable adapted its color scheme to draw attention to the fight against racism and discrimination. World champion and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has also been campaigning on this theme for weeks.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the athletes who makes his voice heard in the Black Lives Matter movement. He now receives extra support from his team. Mercedes cars and race clothes for this season are colored black.

Mercedes presented the new look on Twitter. “This is a pledge to enhance diversity within our team and our sport, and a signal of our commitment to fighting racism and discrimination in any form.”

Hamilton and Bottas will take to the road for the first time by car in Austria on Friday. Then the first training sessions are for the Grand Prix of Austria. The season starts on Sunday.
