British filmmaker Mike Leigh won the Concha de Oro for his feature film Tender Loving Care at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The festival jury, presided over by American filmmaker Ira Sachs, announced the complete list of winners following the conclusion of the annual event in Spain.
Tender Loving Care Leads the 2026 Winners
Tender Loving Care centers on Amy, a dedicated social worker who pours her energy into caring for people in need. At home, she faces mounting challenges as her beloved father begins experiencing health problems, forcing Amy and her mother to cope with a difficult new reality. In addition to capturing the festival’s top film prize, Tender Loving Care earned Mike Leigh the award for best screenplay. The production also picked up a leading acting honor, with Kate O’Flynn sharing the best leading performance prize for her role in the film.
