The National Academy of Medicine of Mexico urged the Federal Government to guarantee medical supplies and personal protective equipment to health workers who are attending the COVID-19 epidemic in the country.
Through a statement, the president of the institution, Teresita Corona Vázquez, indicated that these teams are “essential for the prevention of infections in all hospital centers that care for patients with COVID-19”.
Likewise, he expressed his congratulations to the doctors, nurses and other health professionals who currently provide care to patients infected with the virus.
“We send a fraternal congratulation and our appreciation to all of them for their commitment and dedication in the care they are providing to the population affected by the pandemic in their work centers,” he said.
In order to avoid saturation in the country’s hospitals, the academy also called on the Mexican population to maintain the possible social distance, as well as to continue with the prevention and hygiene measures recommended by the health authorities.
