New Barnes & Noble Opens at Huebner Oaks in San Antonio

Barnes & Noble opened its newest San Antonio bookstore at Huebner Oaks on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, transforming a former Bed Bath & Beyond space into a more than 20,000-square-foot retail destination. The opening marks the sixth Barnes & Noble location in the San Antonio market as the national bookseller expands its physical footprint.

The new store is located at 11745 Interstate Hwy 10 W, Suite 750, situated next to Trader Joe’s on the city’s Northwest Side. The location offers books, toys, games, magazines, gifts, and a Barnes & Noble Café.

Local author Kelsey Cox cut the ribbon at the 10 a.m. grand opening ceremony and signed copies of her novel Pretty Dead Things, Opening weekend events also include special storytime appearances by costume character Biscuit the Dog for younger readers.

Store Manager Jared Valadez, a San Antonio native with 13 years of experience at the company, expressed enthusiasm for the opening. Have you ever had that feeling when you get to do something really, really cool and you get to do it with the people that you love? Valadez said. It’s like I get to build a dream with some of the most special people in my life, and I cannot wait to bring a new Barnes & Noble to my hometown.

The Huebner Oaks location joins a local network of San Antonio Barnes & Noble stores that includes Ingram Festival, opened in 1995; San Pedro Crossing, opened in 1996; Northwoods Shopping Center, opened in 1998; The Shops at La Cantera, opened in 2009; and Alamo Ranch, which opened in 2024.

The opening aligns with a broader national expansion for the company. The Huebner Oaks branch is the third new Texas bookstore opened by Barnes & Noble in 2026, with six additional locations planned across the state. Nationally, the company’s store count has grown to approximately 720 locations, up from fewer than 600 in 2023.
