Even if he is in hospital due to cancer, the passion of the ’emperor of football’ never cools.

Brazilian football legend, Pele (82) announced that he would watch the match between Korea and Brazil in the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Pele posted a post on his Instagram on the 4th (local time). “I’ve had a lot of energy from fans all over the world,” Pele said.

Recently, the local media reported that Pele stopped chemotherapy during chemotherapy and went into palliative care.

Observations said that Pele’s condition worsened after receiving palliative care for a patient who was unable to recover. Pele was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021.

He also mentioned, “Friends, I want everyone to be calm and positive.” He added, “I am strong and hopeful, and I am being treated as usual. Thank you to the medical staff and the nursing team for treating me.”

Pele won trophies for his country in 1958, 1962 and 1970 wearing the Brazilian shirt. Pele, who records 77 goals in 92 A games, is evaluated as a legend with Diego Maradona (Argentina), “god of football” who died in 2020.

Korea and Brazil will play Brazil in the round of 16 at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar, on the 5th at 10pm.
