Perth ∙ Zimbabwe set a target of 131 runs to win against Pakistan who are looking for their first win in the Twenty20 World Cup. In the game in Perth, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 130 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the specified 20 overs. Shaun Williams scored 31 runs off 28 balls with three fours and was Zimbabwe’s top scorer.

Muhammad Wasim Jr., who conceded 24 runs in four overs and took four wickets, was the star of Pakistan’s bowlers. Shatab Khan conceded 23 runs in four overs and took three wickets. Harris Rauf’s performance was also impressive as he conceded just 12 runs in four overs and took one wicket.

Apart from Williams, openers Wesley Madhivere (17 off 13 balls), captain Craig Erwin (19 off 19 balls), Brad Evans (19 off 15 balls) and Ryan Bale (10 off 15 balls) performed in good too.

Zimbabwe’s tally so far is one point after their first match against South Africa was abandoned due to rain. Pakistan, who lost to India in the first match, are yet to open their account.
