Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Widespread stone pelting on vehicles during the hartal called by the Popular Front in the state. Stones were thrown at vehicles in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Wayanad. Stone pelted a KSRTC bus in Thiruvananthapuram East and the windows of the vehicle were broken. The hartal supporters stopped the vehicles at Kattakkada in Thiruvananthapuram. A KSRTC bus was pelted with stones at Pandalam in Pathanamthitta. The stone pelting was on the Pandalam-Peruman service. The eye of the driver P. Rajendran was injured. He was admitted to hospital. The windows of two KSRTC buses and two trucks were broken by stones at the Alappuzha roundabout. Three KSRTC buses were pelted with stones in Kozhikode town, Kallai and Cheruvannur. The hartal is between 6 am and 6 pm. The DGP ordered strict action to ensure law and order. It is suggested that those who close the shops should be booked and arrested. It is also suggested that the protesters should not gather in public places. Temporary detention was also ordered.
